NMDR and Reality TV ?

Oprah is launching a new TV network and they are currently calling for
program pitches.
The link below is to a pitch for a new reality TV show about National Mill
Dog Rescue. This pitch was put together by Jene Nelson, a six time Emmy
Award winning news producer from Denver. Earlier this year, Jene completed a
wonderful documentary about the commercial dog breeding industry, in which
we are the featured rescue.

Please watch the 2 ½ minute pitch and if you think it’s
worthy, vote for it through this link.

Help us put an end to puppy mills!

What We Do

National Mill Dog Rescue's mission is to rescue dogs from puppy mills, provide them with nutritious food, health care and place them in loving homes. We also seek to educate consumers on how to avoid buying dogs from stores that support puppy mills.

Why We Need Help

We need your help to purchase the kennel for our rescued dogs...a place where they can enjoy a safe, war, comfortable and loving environment for the first time in their lives. A place for them to recover both medically and emotionally from years of neglect.

Veterinary care is an enormous expense when rescuing mill dogs. A typical retired "breeder dog" is 5 - 7 years old, has spend its entire life in a small filthy wire cage, has been bred literally almost to death, and in most cases has never received any veterinary care.

What Your Donation Will Do

100% of your donation will go directly to helping mill dogs in need. Donations help provide a variety of services, from rescue expenses and medical care, to facility maintenance and kennel supplies. Until the end of July, every dollar you give will be matched by an angel donor.

Please visit our website today for the link to make a donation.
Thank you so much for your support!

Lucy's Log - Another new friend

Hi there, Lucy here again!

I have another friend that I want you to meet. Her name is Lucy too! I'm told she is a French Mastiff (Bordeaux).

Isn't she a pretty girl? She is a little shy at first, but then she warms right up and wants to sit in your lap. She loves lots of lovin, of course who doesn't. Someone even told me that last week she went and just laid down in the kiddie pool and stayed there for a while. I bet that sure cooled her off!

Be sure to head over to the website to see more of the boys and girls that are hanging out with Lucy!

Have a barking good day!

Lucy's Log - New Friends at the Kennel

Hi there! Lucy here. I'm so happy that you stopped by. Some new friends came into the kennel and I wanted to introduce you to some of them. Today I want to show you Miley. I chose Miley because she is a Chihuahua, just like me. Ya know, us little girls have to stick together!

Here is a picture of Miley. My mom just giggled when she saw this picture. I'm not sure why she laughed, she just kept saying "oh my gosh, she is so cute!". HHmmm...it always makes me worry when my mom says that, sometimes that leads to a new sister or brother. Anyway, she is pretty cute, even if I do say so myself.

Our friend Matt went out and visited with Miley the other day. He says that she is "freaking cute". Miley likes to roll over to be petted and loves to sit on your lap. He says that she is a very kind little girl.

If you would like more information about Miley and the other boys and girls that are with her, be sure to visit our web site. You can get back to our web site by clicking HERE.

One other thing. Please be sure to visit our Dog of the Week page. Blanca is there and she is an amazing girl!

Until next time,

Lucy

Lucy's Log - A Friend in Need

Hi everyone! Boy do I have a story for you today. It's about a little dog found in Mexico who really needs some help. His name is Manchas and he is a cute little guy. Here is his picture and a little story about his situation. If you think you can help Manchas, like my mommy helped me, please contact the wonderful lady who rescued him or someone at NMDR.

Looking for a good home for this very-cool-adoptable-rooftop-dog. aka Manchas, the oh-so-cute-wonder-dog!

Need to find a home for this Jack-Russell-Terrier-looking 10 month old puppy that I rescued off a 6-story-high rooftop in Mexico. This adorable guy had been living on the rooftop for 6 or 7 months. He was completely alone, with no shade, occasional food, insufficient water, no toys, and absolutely no companionship—animal nor human. The rooftop temperatures were well over 100 degrees during the day. He was sleeping on a pile of concrete powder. In spite of his dire circumstances, he would run around the rooftop playing with stones and keeping himself occupied. His disposition was always cute and friendly. I truly don’t know how he survived!

I have two dogs, so I never intended to keep him. I rescued him for the sake of finding him a good, loving home where he would be well cared for…. and to get him out of the hell he was living.

I’ve had Manchas (which means “spots” in Spanish) one month now. I love him, but can’t keep him….. I have two possessive spoiled alpha-male dogs who aren’t thrilled with the mere fact that he exists (b/c they don’t want to share me with anyone or anything). He is terrific with them, but they are NOT terrific with him.

Manchas is extremely intelligent and quite athletic. He’s about 10 months old, weighs 21 pounds, and stands 17” on his back, 21” to the top of his head. He is a very happy, loving dog. As I said, I’ve had him only one month and already he is totally house trained, can play fetch and drop-the-ball, knows how to walk on a leash, comes when you call him (indoors), and no longer jumps up and grabs “the humans’” food.to him. He’s had all his vaccinations and has been neutered. He’s free of worms, fleas, ticks, etc. In other words, he is in excellent health. He is amazingly smart and has great he’s there. He’s very good with my dogs even though they aren’t good dexterity—he can pick your pocket without you ever noticing it, he grabs things like eyeglasses, sneakers, remote controls, etc…. doesn’t hurt them, just takes them to his spot on the bed, very neatly lines them up in front of He’s great in the car – just lays on the floor and you don’t even know himself , and then crawls behind them all and falls asleep.

In short, he’s an adorable, intelligent happy puppy with a big, heart-warming personality. If you’d like to adopt him, or know someone who would, please contact me ASAP. Also, please ask friends/family/strangers if they'd like to adopt this very-cool dog. I really can't keep him. You can reach me at: fortcollinsco@hotmail.com .

I’m driving up to Colorado, arriving approximately July 2nd, so I can deliver him to you. I know they’re dogs needing adoption in the states, but this dog needs adoption NOW and truly, the homes he can be placed in here (if and when I find one) are NOT THE BEST and he could easily end up on a rooftop AGAIN!

Lucy's Log....Allow me to introduce myself!

Hello Family and Friends of NMDR!

My name is Lucy and I am a puppy mill survivor!! I was rescued by the wonderful people at NMDR in January 2009. Luckily for me, I was adopted just one day after being at the kennels. I have a wonderful life with my mom, dad, sister, brother, one furry sister, and one furry brother. Oh, and there is this other furry thing that says "meow", but I don't really pay any attention to her.

I have lots of furry friends and family that are waiting to start their new life! I plan on stopping by here from time to time and tell you all about them.

Here is a picture of me.

I hope you come by often and see what is happening at NMDR!!

Lots of love,
Lucy
