NMDR's Pawsome Auction has begun!

National Mill Dog Rescue is having a benefit auction on facebook for the entire month of May.  This is an awesome opportunity to help and donate to NMDR and also enjoy a bit of fun shopping.

April 24 – May 8:  Auction donation items accepted

May 8:  Auction bidding opens on facebook

Please consider donating an item of value to be featured in NMDR’s facebook auction.  100% of the proceeds from this auction go to benefit the dogs of NMDR.

How to Donate Items to be auctioned:
Donors should be willing to donate the item PLUS ship it (continental U.S. only) it to the winning bidder (unless hand delivery is an option) after the auction closes.

Some ideas include:
·                     dog or pet items
·                     framed photos, paintings
·                     sports memorabilia, autographed items, collectibles, antiques

Help us sell your donated item by:

One of the beautiful pieces already donated
      - Photographing the item (show it off as best you can!)

- Write up a brief description and information (size, dimensions, history, smoke-free home, and condition -anything that would help us promote it).

- Research shipping costs - particularly for larger items so you don’t have any surprises.

- Send a photograph and full description to michele@milldogrescue.org by 5/8/12.  (Subject:  Pawsome Auction)

Note – Items should be in new or gently used condition (unless antiques/collectibles).  NMDR will set a minimum bid amount for each item, so please be willing to ship your item regardless of the winning bid amount.  Once the bidding is complete, you’ll be provided the address so you can ship (or hand deliver) your item to the winning bidder.  You’ll be donating to NMDR in 2 ways (donating the item and covering the shipping).  We will send you a donation receipt as well.

Thank you in advance for donating items to our Pawsome Auction.  We hope to raise lots of funds to help the dogs!

Good grief! We're running out of dog food!

The kennel is full and the food bins are getting low.  52 were rescued last week and 25 more are arriving tonight.  If, for some reason, you didn't get totally hosed while paying your taxes this month and have a few extra dollars laying around, we sure could use some kibble.

How you can help the dogs of National Mill Dog Rescue:

To help us restock the kennel with high-quality dog food, please purchase a bag from Furry Friends, Inc., to donate to NMDR.  Furry Friends is a local (Colorado) pet food store who has already donated over 4,000 lbs of adult dog food to NMDR this year.  We are so grateful for their donation.

The dog food can be ordered online or in the store and will be directly delivered to NMDR's kennel.  In addition, Furry Friends has thrown in a 15% discount for your donated purchase of dog food.

You can order by phone....
An easy way to donate food to NMDR is to call Furry Friends.  Their number is 719-495-7387.  Call, tell anyone who answers that you'd like to donate a bag of food to NMDR, and they'll take care of you, discount and all.  It's that easy!

You can also order online...
  • Go to this link to order dog food.
  • Add a bag (of whatever size you choose) to your cart.
  • When checking out, please put coupon code "NMDR" to receive 15% discount.
  • The shipping address is 5335 JD Johnson Rd, Peyton, CO 80831.
  • That's it!  You've just sent a bag of dog food over to our kennel.

If you're in the area, feel free to wander into Furry Friends, Inc's store.  Mention NMDR and the same offer applies.  3170 N. Stone Ave Colorado Springs.

Thank you in advance for helping feed the dogs in our care.  We also greatly appreciate you for supporting those who support us.

Five dollars, Five minutes, Five percent...

UPDATE - 4/6/12...

As of this afternoon, we've reached our fundraising goal!  Thank you all so much!
However, if you're late to read this post and would still like to donate a dollar or two, you are encouraged to please do so.  The funds raised today only cover vet care, and we are a nonprofit, well.... you know the drill.  We can't survive without donations.  Thank you again.

----------------------------------------------------
Original Post 4/5/12....

National Mill Dog Rescue is sending a rescue team tomorrow to an Oklahoma puppy mill that is closing down. They had roughly 80 dogs on the property and are now down to about half that.  NMDR is scheduled to pick up the remaining 42 this weekend.  However, we're not going to lie.  The last time Darrell was on the property he wasn't able to pick up all that were scheduled... sadly, a few had deceased.  We hope to leave the property with all the dogs on board - equaling a total of 42.  However, if we let you know that it's less, just say a small prayer for the little souls that didn't make it and please help us save the ones we can.  That's what we do.

With 42 dogs coming into the kennel this weekend, we tried to raise funds last week, but fell short of our goal.  Barring no other expenses than vet care, and super-conservatively estimating $100 in vet care per dog upon arrival, that's $4,200 in vet care alone.  Although that seems like a daunting number, all we're asking for is five dollars.

If we can get just 5% of our online followers to donate 5 dollars, we will have met our goal.  It's easy to donate and takes less than 5 minutes!  Five percent of our fans donating five dollars each, would be $2,000, and we will have reached our goal.  Vet care cost for the new arrivals would be covered and NMDR could breathe easy and continue to focus on our mission.

Please donate $5.00 today.  It's a great opportunity to have a small amount make a huge difference.

Thank you from all of us at National Mill Dog Rescue, especially this weekend's new arrivals.  We couldn't do what we do without your help.
