As of this morning all the dogs in these photos are safely in the hands of our Rescue Team and soon will be heading home to Colorado. Rescues such as this are very costly. As with most non-profit organizations, we rely solely on donations and grant funding - the more money we can raise, the more dogs we can rescue. If you can help by making a donation please CLICK HERE, and be assured - YOU are making a difference!

Thank you so much for rescuing these beautiful babes. Can't wait to see them after you do your magic on them. God bless all of you at NMDR! Blessings will pour down on you.
ReplyDeleteAnd just think, they do not know any better what life really can be like than living in that mud. Once cleaned up they will see what a wonderful life they will have.
Deletethankyou so much for finding these poor babies, i hope they all fine loving homes, this is discuting what these people have done ,i would so love to adopt one as i have a dog that looksjust like 1 of them ,best wishes
DeleteTHank you for all you do.
DeleteAre the owners being prosecuted?
ReplyDeleteWhat they're doing is legal in the eyes of the law. We need to get stricter laws to enforce humane conditions for animals. Write your state lawmakers and urge them to support stricter laws and enforcement for animals.
Deletethe owners ought to be shot, they are not human, they don't deserve to live
DeleteI completely agree. I hate these people that do this to those poor babies. Thank you so much Rescue Mill for what you do.
DeleteThank goodness these poor animals were rescued. Puppy mills should be outlawed! Close them all down.
ReplyDeleteamen...sad that a community of deeply rooted religious people are the main mill breeders..amish
DeleteThey were not Amish but were Menanites, please don't get the two confused as they are of different beliefs....The Amish would not be doing this.
DeleteAmish run puppy mills too...there's case against an Amish man happening right now here in Canada. It doesn't matter the religion....all types of greedy, uncaring people run puppy mills!
DeleteDid you say Amish we above doing this???? You are joking ....right? Obviously "beliefs" have nothing to do with the treatment of animals when money is the payoff....
Deletehttp://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/amish-dog-breeders-face-heat/Content?oid=1953690
Ummm, I beg to differ. There are PLENTY of deplorable Amish puppy mills. Take this one for example https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=537442789606016&set=a.534785726538389.139676.197151383635160&type=1&theater This was from an Amish mill in Pickway County, Ohio. Make sure you look at Hope's before and after pictures. Amish and Menanite consider ALL animals livestock and nothing more.
DeleteAmish see animals as a product. Just like a farm animal is sold for food, they will keep animals in horrible condition. It doesn't matter what 'religion'; it's the greed that keeps Mills open. USDA, APHIS, Animal Care is the enforcement agency and Tom Vilsack is the Secretary of USDA. Contact him and ask that this type of abuse is unacceptable and stricter laws need to be implemented ASAP! Do this in the name of the puppy that NMDR has just rescued! Do it NOW!
DeleteAmish run some of the worse puppy mills!!!!
DeleteYes, the Amish run some of the worse puppy mills in the country and also "have" the most puppy mills. I've heard several people speaking about their "religion". You can call any kind of belief a "religion" but it has nothing to do with true Godly people. Anyone who truly has God in their hearts could not possibly do this to an animal! These people, whether it be Amish or Mennonite, could not treat these animals this way if they really had God in their hearts or had any compassion. They see the dollar signs which is all they care about, and the cruel mistreatment of animals is truly evil, and as for those who can do this to an innocent animal, their "religion" as you call it, certainly doesn't come from God.
DeleteMy husband wants me to "compartmentalize" my feelings about puppy mills and buy Amish furniture. I absolutely refuse until either the laws or the communities (i.e. grow some compassion!!) eradicate all Amish puppy mills.
DeleteEXCUSE ME .. LET'S STOP THE RELIGIOUS DISCUSSION AND GET BACK TO THE POINT AT HAND! YOU'RE AS GUILTY AS THE PUPPY MILL OPERATORS WHEN YOU DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE!! We must work to make strictly laws governing the breeding, hoarding and milling animals for profit! Then we need to keep our eyes and ears open and when we see something .. follow up, document as much as you're able, contact any and all authorities! Then support those organizations, such as National Mill Dog Rescue and the all the other organizations and individuals working to save these animals who deserve better than they are receiving at human hands!!! Sorry I have to post this as Anonymous but I don't have a Google account!
DeleteFor crying out loud. Me = LIVID. So thankful that YOU have them now!! Prayers for save travels home and that they soon find loveable homes! <3
ReplyDeleteSo thankful for the work you do!
ReplyDeleteIt astounds me that people can be so-called "god loving people" and then treat others this way.
ReplyDeleteI so agree!!!!!
DeleteSupposedly love and believe in God and can do this to God's innocent creatures!!!!!!!
they are hypicrates
DeleteI wish our government would feel their pain. Then just maybe the laws would be changed to prevent this from happening. This is a sad world when we don't stick up for the helpless.
ReplyDeleteOur government can't feel the pain of our country. Why would they feel, or care about the pain of animals?
DeleteThank you so much for taking these dogs from this horrific place.
ReplyDeleteSickening and so sad! Poor babies :,(
ReplyDeletewhere in tennessee please
ReplyDeleteI realize the Amish just consider dogs to be 'livestock' but I am still totally appalled at these circumstances. Looks like they were drinking water out of dirt holes, and the filth and matting is horrific. How many were rescued? Will they all survive? And, someone posted puppy mills should be illegal. They are. And these people should definitely be prosecuted for animal abuse.
ReplyDeleteyes...the amish own many many puppy mills
DeleteTHEY WERE MENANITES and NOT AMISH.......Learn to educate yourself before making comments about those you know nothing about....SAD JUST THE SAME....
DeleteThe amish are notorious for running some of the most horrific puppy mills in the US along with the Menonites. Please educate yourself. The Amish are sickening, awful, people who have absolutely no regard for animals and hide behind religion to get away with their crimes.
DeleteLearn to educate yourself. before making comments YOU know nothing about...... and it is Mennonite... NOT MENANITES....speaking of education...
DeleteNot only do the AMISH own the most horrific puppy mills they have their fingers in the puppy mill auction scene... where they sell the dogs that are either too sick or burnt out to use as breeding stock..!! Disgusting business practices ...disgusting people = puppy mill owners... PERIOD!
You are wrong dear, many if not most of these puppy mills are operating LEAGALLY!! The problem is the laws> They only provide for very basic care of these animals, which is far sub standard to what people who actually care about animals would consider proper
DeleteBefore you go screaming at everyone about educating themselves, why don't you look up the correct spelling for "Mennonites"? Seems an expert such as yourself would know how to spell it.
DeleteProsecuted!!! they should be hung
DeleteHaving expereinced puppy mill auctions the "english" handled the animals much more cruelly than the amish. Religion has nothing to do with care. The government needs to amend the breeding laws and people need to educate themselves and stop buying from pet stores and back yard breeders.
DeleteU people r totally getting off the subject. Its not about religion! Its about puppymills. Theres bad in every religion!
DeleteBefore anyone gets on anyone about spelling, make sure the person you are yelling at is not using a handheld android device. I have a kindle fire right now because the screen on my tablet is cracked. Between my kindle fire and my android phone, I can't post anything without errors - these things auto-correct to the point of over correcting
Deletemiddle, west or east tennessee please..where?
ReplyDeleteWhere is this TN puppy mill?? Has it been permanently closed?
ReplyDeleteIS this puppy available for adoption?

I don't know how those people live with themselves everyday knowing what they are doing. God did not give us these loving sweet creatures to abuse! I am so glad you got them and are taking them to freedom, I hope you can get all of the puppy mill doggies someday so that these animals do not have to suffer horribly at the hand of man any longer!
ReplyDeleteThat is just disgusting. Wonder how these dispicible people would like drinking green water and water out of a mud hole? I knew the Amish were huge puppy mill breeders but this is just beyond my comprehension. So glad these little babies are safe and on their way to a better life. As always, you guys at NMDR are the absolute best!
ReplyDeleteThank you Thank You, I know these people were horrible in PA, but did't realize they were other places too! You are truly angels for taking on this task!
ReplyDeleteOMG!! How can anyone do that to a living creature!! Thank you so much for saving these babies!! I love you guys! All of you!!
ReplyDeleteLiving in a religious community does not make a person kind and caring. A basic tenet of christianity is that only humans have souls so therefore non humans really don't count all that much. If fact, the idea of having dominion over all the earth gives most people the belief that they can do whatsoever they desire to earth and all her creatures.
ReplyDeleteThere endeth the lesson. NMDR makes us all better for their work. They raise the bar as it should be. Love to you and all the dogs.
THE AMISH AND OTHER RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES ARE HEAVILY INVOLVED IN PUPPY MILLS, AND HIDE BEHIND THEIR RELIGION TO ABUSE MILLIONS OF ANIMALS DAILY...THEY ARE DISGUSTING AND NEED TO BE LICENSED AND INSPECTED TWICE A YEAR TO STOP THIS ABUSE. GOD DOES NOT LOVE OR CONDONE WHAT THESE PEOPLE DO ON A DAILY BASIS. HOW DO YOU THINK THEY SUPPORT THEIR COMMUNITIES, BY SELLING ELECTRIC STOVE COVERS, OR BUGGY WHIPS, GET REAL...
ReplyDeleteyes they do.. they are scum. total scum.
Deleteagree with you totally this makes me so sick
DeleteI wish someone would get behind legislation to protect these innocent animals. So sickening. I have to hug my dog now.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all you do. This is deplorable, and my heart breaks for all the abused and neglected animals. It seems never ending, there are so many...
ReplyDeleteAll creatures great and small...the Lord God made them all. You will be so blessed for this effort! Sending what I can!
ReplyDeleteBless you, NMDR, for all you do to rescue those few that the puppy mills will let you have. I know that the work you do is difficult, for it requires dealing with deplorable conditions and deplorable people, all with a smile on your faces so that they will deal with you and release these little ones to you.
ReplyDeleteI know also that puppy mills will continue to flourish as long as those deplorable people can make a buck off their "breeding stock." Puppy mill conditions will not improve until animal activists (yes, that means US too, folks) petition our politicians to change the USDA "standards" which allow these conditions to be legal.
Of course, I imagine the dream of all of us is to outlaw puppy mills, require spaying and neutering of family pets, and regulate legitimate breeders.
so basically these people will get off scott free with doing stuff like this.. and as happy as i am to see the dogs out of there what is to stop them from doing it again?
ReplyDeletethere has to be a special place in hell for people who treat animals so horribly. And conversely, there has to be a special place in heaven for all those who step up and rescue these souls.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one bothered that people here keep saying that the people running the puppy mills see the puppies as livestock, hence allowing them to consciously treat the animals poorly? I need to point out that the livestock animals deserve just as much of a chance to be treated humanely (and not be murdered for food) as these dogs. We need to fight this hard for all animals. Not just the ones we see as pets. Down with species discrimination!!! How many of you spouting off eat meat? And dairy? There is equally as much abuse if not more as there is in puppy mills. Fight for ALL animals! GO VEGAN!
ReplyDeleteGood point! ALL living beings are important and should be cherished and respected. Period.

Not starved for food or drink.
Not beaten or abused.
Not forgotten.
How do we get the puppy mills abolished? HOW?!! There are so many animals in need of a loving home.
Please, someone shut off the tap running in my eyes, because I can't shut it off!!!!! HOW can this happen, WHY is this allowed to happen, those poor, poor babies. Please GOD let them have a furever home soon. ♥
ReplyDeleteNo Doubt these people are Wicked-
ReplyDelete"The righteous care for the needs of their animals,
but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel."
~Proverbs 12:10
AMEN!
DeleteI still don't understand how this is legal. Isn't animal abuse and neglect a crime?
ReplyDeleteyes it is, Seems the Amish can get away with anything,,,
DeleteWas the Chinese Crested Hairless Rescued too? I hate the Amish! They Ride their Wagons with their horses with their sad faces. I have no pity! They will rot for what they are doing!! And the system that's letting them will rot too, each and every one of them!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for what you do these beings are monsters and I can only hope that one day they will be in cages. There is a special place in HELL just for them.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you.
Such filth, these people are creeps. These poor babies deserve a life. I hate these mills shut them down!!!
ReplyDeleteSoooo..... I'm a fan of NMDR for sure...... But some of these comments are disturbing..... People are quick to say "hang em" yet the same treatment of any "acceptable" livestock is okay????? Cows are horribly mistreated and just because they're food and dairy sources it's okay to treat them like crap???? Perhaps some of these people are the bigger hypocrites!!!!! That being said..... I'm glad that efforts are being made to improve the living conditions of some animals..... Hopefully someday more animals can enjoy fair treatment, especially since they provide us sustenance......
ReplyDeleteMy first reaction when seeing these dogs and their living conditions was.... are you f....ing serious??? There are humans who actually are uncaring enough to let these dogs exists like this for one day let alone years??? Are they some form of breed that has no feelings....like robots just empty machines programed to do this just to make a buck?
ReplyDeleteNames and locations of puppy mills are never released. Puppy Mills are legal and were created by the government after WWII so the families of the mid west could have an income. One year later the government opened the first pet store.
